DESCRIPTION
Whether you live in a hot climate region, enjoy drag racing, or long high speed pulls on airstrips the AMS Performance Toyota GR Supra Heat Exchanger will help keep your intake temps lower and maintain your GR Supra’s maximum power output no matter the conditions. Your 3.0L turbocharged B58 engine does not use the typical air to air front mount intercooler (FMIC) you may be used to. Like many modern turbocharged vehicles the GR Supra uses coolant to cool the intake air charge through an air-to-water heat exchanger. While this method may be sufficient for a stock vehicle under ideal conditions, it can quickly become heat soaked, robbing horsepower.

Engineered to Win
Our SnailWorks© Engineering Team set out to make the AMS Performance Toyota GR Supra Heat Exchanger upgrade not only the most effective on the market but also the easiest to install. Our team has spent countless R&D hours painstakingly designing the heat exchanger via Solidworks© Computer Aided Design (CAD) software as well as conducted rigorous on-track testing. It fits just like stock without any cutting or drilling. By using the factory hoses, clamps and mounting points you or your trusted mechanic can install it quickly and easily. The core simply slides in, locking into the factory mounts, and gets connected to your existing factory coolant lines. You don’t get a cleaner, more simple installation than that!
The most effective way to increase thermal transfer is by increasing the overall surface area of the exchanger. This is why we have packed in a 54% increase in core volume over the tiny OEM unit, lowering the amount of time for heat to be extracted from the system. Additionally, by increasing the fluid volume of the entire system by nearly half a gallon our heat exchanger acts as a large fluid reserve to increase thermal capacity so that coolant temperatures are kept low and stable. With a 122% increase in coolant capacity over stock, it increases the thermal stability in your Supra’s intercooler system which keeps horsepower-killing heat soak at bay.
The Difference Is In The Details
The most important part of an air-to-water intercooler system is the heat exchanger core. Skimping here could mean the overall performance of an ‘upgraded’ system might be worse than stock! This high efficiency, dual pass core allows coolant to make two passes through the heat exchanger before exiting, dissipating heat quickly for maximum cooling. Our team tested numerous core types with varying sizes and features to guarantee the highest performance possible. The AMS Performance Toyota GR Supra Heat Exchanger utilizes a 5mm tall louvered fin which allowed for the best heat transfer and coolant tube count of any fin design we tested. Additionally, this louvered design allows for extra surface area which promotes more efficient heat transfer out of the core.
Focusing on component design and materials selection is crucial during product development, and is why we have utilized top tier materials as the foundation of the AMS Performance Toyota GR Supra Heat Exchanger. The end tanks are manufactured from billet 6061 T6 aluminum, which is then precision CNC machined for a perfect fit — every time. Because we are using billet end tanks, our team was able to integrate OEM-style fitment features which allow the heat exchanger to lock into place, just like Toyota intended. These features are built into our billet end tanks and would be difficult to recreate otherwise, allowing our kit to stand above the competition.
